Alicante is a beautiful city in the Comunidad Valenciana, overlooking the Mediterranean Costa Blanca, famous for its beaches (those of Sant Joan, salad and Albufereta Blue Flags are ), orchards and large port.
The area (equipped with a modern airport as calling on different low-cost) is a holiday paradise thanks to the unfailing sun, the average annual temperature of about 18 degrees, the white sand invites you to stroll along the sea even in winter, and the abundant nightlife and entertainment.
The city offers the chance to spend a holiday (also) cultural, as there are monuments and places worth visiting. First, the Castillo Santa Barbara (a stronghold of Arab origin, restored by the Christians after the conquest by Alfonso X) located on Mount Benacantil, where it dominates the huerta of Alicante and has a spectacular view of the island of Tabarca ( a dozen miles from the coast).
Then there are the churches of historic and artistic interest: the gothic basilica of Santa Maria built over the remains of the Mezquita Mayor is the oldest temple in the city, and offers a unique mixture of styles, Baroque through the portal and all ' rococo altar. Sa report then also the seventeenth century Concatedral of San Nicola di Bari, anch'essa costruita sopra una moschea ed esempio classico dello stile rinascantista spagnolo. Per gli appassionati di storia infine, da non perdere, nella già citata zona dell'Albufereta, i resti romani di Lucentum (a partire dal IV secolo a.c).
Ma Alicante è soprattutto divertimento, per cui non ci si può perdere una cena nella zona della Explanada e di calle Mayor, o una scappata verso i locali notturni di Murcia , Denia o Benidorm .
